RIOCHONGU VILLAGE -- SOLAR REPORT
prepared by the elders of the Riochongu Village, located near Ogembo,
close to the town of Kisii in Nyanza Province,in the Western Highland of Keyna

There is new hope in Rionchogu village with the new non pollutant solar technology for lighting.  The students that received the solar clip lights have something precious to give them a happy smile because they are sure to do their studies at night especially the homework they are given from school.  Previously, doing studies at home was uncertain because of inadequate light from paraffin lamps or candles. The village women have greatly appreciated the solar lights because their children cannot miss to study at night and the smoky candles which they have been using has affected the health of their children by causing lung diseases as well as affecting their eyes.  Also the money that they have been spending to buy paraffin for room lighting with lamps can now be used to purchase other basic items.  The village elders have the pleasure to inform you that these solar lights have been received with great appreciation.  We realize there is great need for these solar lights.  Everyone is demanding even at least one solar clip light for their school children and for home lighting.  Because of the poor economical status of the people in the village, the information we have gathered shows that the people in Rionchogu village are willing and able to pay about half the FOB China price for these solar-powered lights and cell phone chargers.  However, there are those in the village who cannot afford to pay anything, and we must help them.  We praise God for bringing another opportunity to the village as the usefulness of solar lighting and cell phone charging becomes more well known in Africa.   May God bless you and sustain us all.
